Overview

Lifelong Medical is seeking the Director of Technology Operations to lead the strategic and operational management of our IT services. This leader will drive system-wide improvements in IT service delivery and technology utilization while fostering a culture of continuous learning and equity.

 

The Director will oversee the Helpdesk, Desktop Support, System Operations, Network Infrastructure, and Cybersecurity teams, set clear expectations and hold team members accountable for performance and results. The Director will also be responsible for managing vendor relationships to ensure service quality and cost-effectiveness. This role collaborates closely with site and executive leadership across multiple departments to define and implement strategic technology goals that align with Lifelong Medical’s mission and long-term growth.

 

This is a full time, benefit eligible position at our Lifelong Administrative Offices.

 

LifeLong Medical Care is a large, multi-site, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with a rich history of providing innovative healthcare and social services to a wonderfully diverse patient community. Our patient-centered health home is a dynamic place to work, practice, and grow. We have over 15 primary care health centers and deliver integrated services including psychosocial, referrals, chronic disease management, dental, health education, home visits, and much, much more. 

 

Benefits

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute IT roadmap in alignment with Organization's strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to identify opportunities where technology can drive efficiency, innovation, and service delivery.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage IT staff across infrastructure, system operations, helpdesk, desktop support and cybersecurity functions.
  • Set clear performance expectations, foster professional development, and promote a high-performing and inclusive team culture.
  • Oversee daily IT operations to ensure consistent service availability, system performance, and technical support across the organization.
  • Implement SLT frameworks to improve support and responsiveness.
  • Lead the development and enforcement of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and incident response plans.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and conduct regular risk assessments and audits.
  • Direct the planning, implementation, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, cloud environments, cybersecurity stacks and enterprise systems.
  • Ensure reliability, scalability, and security of technology platforms.
  • Plan and oversee the execution of major IT initiatives, including system upgrades, software implementations, and infrastructure projects.
  • Manage the IT CAPEX and OPEX budget, track expenditures, and negotiate vendor contracts to ensure cost-effective solutions.
  • Develop and enforce IT governance policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct periodic network penetration tests and simulated phishing campaigns to assess security vulnerabilities. Develop mitigation plans and deliver staff education to address identified gaps.
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors, consultants, and technology partners.
  • Evaluate and select technology solutions and services that align with business needs and budget.
  • Meet monthly with site leadership to identify IT service and technology gaps; develop and implement solutions to address those gaps and improve operational efficiency.
  • Provide clear communication on IT initiatives, timelines, and impacts to non-technical audiences.
  • Establish and regularly test business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Ensure data backup systems and protocols are robust and compliant with industry standards.
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with cloud computing, data analytics, enterprise applications (EPIC and Dentrix), and networking technologies
  • Ability to develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and governance structures

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in management information system, Computer Science, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in healthcare settings, with a minimum of 3 years in process improvement, quality, or change leadership.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role with direct supervisory responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in process improvement methodologies
  • Proven experience managing IT infrastructure, networks, systems, and IT support services.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing large-scale IT projects.
  • 5+ years’ experience with IT infrastructure and oversight in a healthcare setting.

 

Job Preferences             

  • Master’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Prior leadership experience in a mission-driven, nonprofit, or healthcare organization.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Dentrix.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards.
  • Proven experience leading digital transformation or cloud migration initiatives.
  • Strong background in cybersecurity strategy and implementation.
  • Experience managing IT across multiple locations or a distributed workforce.
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with department heads, executives, and external vendors.
  • Commitment to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in technology environments.
  • Experience working in a safety-net health system, FQHC, or community-based care setting.

The employee may be required to attend evening meetings, travel and work evenings or weekends. The noise level varies from quiet to moderate. Employees are subject to frequent interruptions.
