Overview

The Communications Program Manager is responsible for leading strategic internal communications to ensure clear, consistent, and engaging messaging across LifeLong. This role will develop and implement communication strategies for HR initiatives, craft all-staff communications, create PowerPoint presentations for the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), manage individual employee communications, and maintain the HR SharePoint site. The Communications Program Manager reports directly to the Senior Director of HR, Benefits, & Communications and collaborates closely with Human Resources leadership to support organizational goals.

 

This is a full time, benefit eligible in Berkeley, CA.

 

LifeLong Medical Care is a multi-site, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with a rich history of providing innovative healthcare and social services to a wonderfully diverse patient community. Our patient-centered health home is a dynamic place to work, practice, and grow. We have over 15 primary care health centers and deliver integrated services including psychosocial, referrals, chronic disease management, dental, health education, home visits, and much, much more.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive internal communications strategy to enhance employee engagement and transparency.
  • Draft and distribute all-staff communications on HR-related initiatives, policies, and organizational updates.
  • Prepare clear, compelling reports and PowerPoint presentations for SLT on HR programs, implementations, and other key initiatives.
  • Craft and personalize individual employee communications related to HR matters, benefits, and organizational updates.
  • Manage and maintain the HR SharePoint site, ensuring that employees have access to accurate and up-to-date resources and information.
  • Partner with HR leadership to create messaging that supports change management, organizational culture, and key HR projects.
  • Ensure alignment of all internal messaging with LifeLong Medical Care’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Work closely with key departments to improve cross-functional communication efforts.
  • Provide strategic guidance and recommendations on best practices for internal communications, leveraging feedback and analytics to optimize messaging.
  • Monitor and respond to the HR Administrative inbox; triage and share employee inquiries for timely response.
  • Perform other duties and lead projects assigned by the Senior Director of HR, Benefits, & Communications.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, Public Relations, Human Resources, English or a related field, or commensurate work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in internal communications, employee engagement, HR communications, or a related field.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience developing communication strategies that drive employee engagement and align with organizational goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive issues in a confidential, professional manner.
  • Strong ability to translate complex HR initiatives into clear, accessible language for diverse employee audiences.
  • Ability to develop and implement innovative communication strategies that foster a positive workplace culture.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with an ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while also demonstrating independence and initiative.

Job Preferences

  • Experience working in healthcare, community health, or nonprofit organizations.
  • Familiarity with HR processes, policies, and compliance-related communications.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or other visual communication platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to measure and improve the effectiveness of internal communications.
