Overview

The Sr. Director of Executive Engagements & Communications is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and executing the strategic communications and engagement efforts for LifeLong Medical Care’s executive team, with a primary focus on the CEO. This role ensures consistent, impactful messaging that aligns with the organization’s mission, values, and strategic goals. This role is critical to enhancing LifeLong’s reputation, fostering transparency, and amplifying the organization’s mission through impactful executive engagement and communication strategies. The Sr. Director of Executive Engagements and Communications will ensure that LifeLong’s leadership voice is unified, authentic, and impactful across all audiences and platforms

 

This is a full time, exempt, benefit eligible, on-site position in Berkeley.

 

LifeLong Medical Care is a multi-site, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with a rich history of providing innovative healthcare and social services to a wonderfully diverse patient community. Our patient-centered health home is a dynamic place to work, practice, and grow. Benefits

Compensation: $165k - $185k/year. We offer excellent benefits including: medical, dental, vision (including dependent and domestic partner coverage), generous leave benefits including ten paid holidays, Flexible Spending Accounts, 403(b) retirement savings plan.

Responsibilities

The Sr. Director leads all aspects of executive communications, including internal and external content development, CEO branding, keynotes, social media strategy, and engagement protocols. The role requires a deep understanding of organizational strategy, storytelling, and audience engagement, as well as the ability to craft messages that resonate across diverse stakeholder groups.

 

Executive Communications Leadership 

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive executive communications strategy that amplifies the CEO’s voice and positions LifeLong as a leader in community healthcare.
  • Oversee the creation of CEO content, including quarterly memos, Board of Directors (BOD) reports, annual reports, and executive blogs or vlogs.
  • Manage the development of impactful keynote presentations and speeches for the CEO and other executive leaders, ensuring alignment with organizational messaging and goals.
  • Create and implement communication protocols to ensure consistency, accuracy, and timeliness across all executive communications.

Branding and Online Presence 

  • Oversee executive social media strategy and content, maintaining a strong online presence for the CEO and other executive leaders.
  • Develop and maintain executive biographies and branding materials, ensuring alignment with LifeLong’s values and mission.
  • Drive the creation of engaging, audience focused content for external platforms, such as LinkedIn and other professional networks, to showcase LifeLong’s leadership and impact.

Content Development and Publications 

  • Lead the development and publication of LifeLong’s Annual Report, ensuring it reflects the organization’s achievements, progress, and vision.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to produce timely and relevant FAQs, newsletters, and other employee communications that keep staff informed and engaged.
  • Create and maintain a content calendar to ensure regular and coordinated communication efforts across all channels.

Employee Engagement and Transparency 

  • Partner with HR and leadership to create communication tools, such as employee FAQs and updates, that foster transparency and connection with staff.
  • Develop messaging frameworks to address organizational changes, initiatives, or other key developments, ensuring employees feel informed and valued.

Governance and Reporting 

  • Oversee the production of the CEO Board of Directors report, ensuring clarity, alignment, and strategic focus in presenting key updates and organizational progress.
  • Manage communication deliverables for executive governance, providing timely and comprehensive updates on organizational priorities.

Qualifications

  • Strategic Vision: Ability to align executive communications with organizational priorities and goals.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage cross functional initiatives.
  • Storytelling: Expertise in creating compelling narratives that inspire and engage stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to manage shifting priorities and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Education & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in communications, marketing, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in executive communications, public relations, or strategic messaging, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Experience managing executive branding and social media strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead content development across multiple formats, including reports, keynotes, and online media.
  • Strong understanding of employee engagement and internal communications best practices.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple high priority projects simultaneously.
