    Supporting Community Healthcare is a rewarding role. LifeLong Medical Care is looking for a Learning and Development Manager to work in our Administrative Office building in West Berkeley. This is a full time, exempt, benefit eligible position. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Learning and Development (L&D) Manager’s role is to design, develop and facilitate training programs and materials in collaboration with subject matter experts (SME) and support all organizational development initiatives and needs. The L&D Manager is responsible for assessing and analyzing learning and development needs and based on these, develop learning plans and curriculum; implement these by arranging suitable learning solutions for employees. This position actively searches, creatively designs, and implements effective methods to educate and enhance performance. This role is responsible for developing reporting mechanisms in order to successfully capture and analyze the effectiveness of the L&D programs. 

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct needs assessment and learning programs analysis to ensure conformity with LifeLong’s mission, strategic plan, and focus on customer service – both internal and external.
    • Consult with senior leadership, department heads, and managers, as needed, to assess the learning needs of LifeLong’s staff and develops programs to correspond to these needs.
    • Research, plan, organize, and conduct training programs for LifeLong.
    • Continually evaluate learning programs to monitor and analyze effectiveness, to make recommendations for appropriate changes, and to update curriculum as needed.
    • Conduct performance based measurement assessment for objective evaluation of instructional programs.
    • Design, implement, and deliver learning programs throughout LifeLong.
    • Design and develop materials for new and existing courses to support leadership, management and support staff using various delivery channels integrating adult learning principles. Examples of delivery channels include instructor led (classroom and web-based) and self-paced (including learning delivery)
    • Formulate teaching outline and determine instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, or workshops.
    • Develop, maintain, and distribute education support materials such as training handbooks, manuals, handouts, visual aids, course exams, and evaluation forms utilizing a variety of media to accompany learning sessions.
    • Partner with outside L&D vendors and organizations as needed to augment LifeLong’s internal offerings.
    • Remain current on developments in L&D and instructional methodologies including technology. enhancements and attends periodic seminars, forums, and meetings to ensure continuous education.
    • Promote LifeLong’s L&D programs and opportunities throughout the organization.
    • Maintain learning & development records and create reports as needed.
    • Oversee vendor/consultant course design/development as needed.
    • Build, manage and implement new hire orientation program and onboarding program.
    • In partnership with Employee Relations and the HR Director, develop and deliver performance management and supervisor training material.
    • Support the logistics coordination of scheduled learning programs and events.
    • Performs other duties and projects as needed or assigned by the Human Resources Director.

    Job Requirements          

    • Requires a minimum of Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Communications, Training, Instructional Design, Human Resources or similar field of study.
    • Minimum three (3) years of experience in Learning and Development or Corporate Training.
    • Instructional design experience with a focus on Instructor-led, web-based and self-paced content both new course creation and existing course improvement.
    • Experience with Soft Skills training and workshop facilitation (e.g. employee development courses, management training).
    • Must possess a demonstrated ability and understanding of adult learning principles and learning methodology.
    • Must be customer focused with strong execution skills and a results orientation, able to link organizational challenges and objectives with tactical execution and results.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a collaborative team in a deadline driven environment.
    • Excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Intermediate to Advanced skills on Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
    • Self-motivated, creative and resourceful.
    • Professional presence.
    • Strong customer service approach to problem solving and conflict resolution.

    Job Preferences              

    • Certification in training particularly Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) credential.
    • Experience with eLearning design programs.
    • Healthcare experience and working with medically licensed staff.
    • Experience with diverse employee populations and multi-location organizations.
    • Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), Community Health or Non-profit experience.

    Supervisory Responsibility        

    • This position has no direct staff supervisory responsibilities
