    This is a full-time benefited opportunity at our Berkeley Dental site. The ideal candidate is professional, organized and possesses excellent patient care skills with one year of experience. Experience working with children and bilingual English/Spanish a plus! The RDA will assist the dentist in all phases of dentistry, including taking diagnostic intra-oral x-rays, performing coronal polishing and prophylaxis. The RDA must have a Sealant license.

    Responsibilities

    Performs basic supportive dental procedures as follows under the general supervision of licensed dentist(s):

    • Assists dentist(s) chair side in all phases of dentistry.
    • Operates dental radiographic equipment for the purpose of oral radiology; taking diagnostic quality x-rays, developing and mounting correctly as requested by the dentist(s) as often as needed.
    • Provides/Practices proper use of infection control protocols as specified by professional, state, and federal standards. Ensures all protective barriers are used and enforced in the workplace.
    • Assists patients with oral hygiene instructions following dental procedures.
    • Assume other duties when assigned by the clinic director and dental director.
    • Performs tasks with adherence to all OSHA and regulatory sterilization, infection control, and protective barrier guidelines.
    • Performs prophylaxis and coronal polishing.
    • Applies fluoride varnish and/or fluoride gel on patients.
    • Places sealants on permanent dentations.
    • Uses dental software and digital radiographs.

    Qualifications

    • Ability to assist dentists in all phases of dentistry, and capable of taking diagnostic Intra-oral x-rays.
    • Knowledge of proper use of all dental material and dental equipment.
    • Strong organizational skills and self-motivation.
    • Ability to work unsupervised and work with people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds and age groups.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
    • Computer literacy including use of Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • Maintains current CPR/First Aid Certification.
    • Ability to multi-task, troubleshoot and problem-solve effectively.

    Education and Experience

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Registered Dental Assistant and Radiology License.
    • Valid Coronal Polish Certificate & Sealant license.
    • One year of relevant dental clinic experience preferred.
