    LifeLong Medical Care is looking for a Facilities Assistant to join our team in Berkeley. This is a full time, 40 hours/week benefited position. The Facilities Assistant works under the supervision of the Facilities Director to provide care and maintenance for LifeLong’s Medical Care buildings and immediate grounds in Berkeley and the surrounding areas. The job includes a range of responsibilities, from basic maintenance work to plumbing and carpentry, office furniture set up, supply deliveries, off-site storage monitoring and grounds and parking area clean-ups.

     

    LifeLong Medical Care is a large, multi-site, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with a rich history of providing innovative healthcare and social services to a wonderfully diverse patient community.     Responsibilities

    • Under general supervision, independently performs a range of maintenance, repair and renovation work
    • Work activities may include but is not limited to installing faucets, soldering pipe and clearing drains; installing outlets, switches, replacing ballasts, fixtures; installing and adjusting door hardware; wall framing, patching and painting; and assists with mechanical and electrical systems maintenance.
    • Analyzes and troubleshoots problems and performs necessary repairs.
    • Assists in ensuring the safety of occupants and building users, supplies, records, Cal/OSHA and OSHA standards.
    • Performs minor maintenance tasks.
    • Performs scheduled preventive maintenance checks.
    • Performs scheduled yard and parking area cleanups.
    • Delivers office supplies, equipment and furniture to various locations. Mail delivery may be included as needed.
    • Performs office setups and equipment assembly.
    • Manages retrievals from and deliveries to storage; monitor off-site storage facilities.
    • Carries out special projects as assigned by Facilities Director.
    • Maintains tools and equipment in good working order.
    • Ability to work occasional evening or weekend.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements          

    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Two years of hands on experience in general facilities and systems maintenance and repair
    • Access to reliable transportation (preferably a work truck) and a current and valid California Driver’s license with insurance.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in written.
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
    • Knowledge of methods, practices and tools and equipment typically used in the cleaning and maintenance of office buildings and grounds.
    • Ability to operate an office work station, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet and other software.
