    LifeLong Medical Care has a rewarding opportunity for a Physician, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant, to fill a unique leadership role within LifeLong East Oakland Health Center.The East Oakland Health Center is seeking a Wellness Center Lead Clinician to oversee clinical care and operations in the Wellness Center. The Wellness Center specializes in services that complement and expand upon traditional allopathic medical approaches in order to enhance the physical and emotional wellbeing of our primary care patients and to better address health inequities affecting the East Oakland community.


    The Wellness Center Lead Clinician is a member of the leadership staff of East Oakland Health Center. They oversee a wide array of Integrative Medicine modalities, shared medical visits and group classes for patients receiving primary care at East Oakland Health Center. Ideal candidates have experience in and a passion for Integrative Medicine, are open to new and innovative models of care, and are dedicated to working with underserved communities.


    LifeLong Medical Care is a Federally Qualified Health Center in Northern California with over 42 years of dedicated service to the community. LifeLong provides comprehensive, compassionate care to over 60,000 patients in socio-economically underserved regions of the East Bay Area. We provide medical, dental, behavioral health and school-based services at 20 sites across Oakland, Berkeley and West Contra Costa County.

    • Work closely with the LifeLong Grants and Planning Department and the Center Manager in project development, implementation and grant oversight.
    • Recruit and supervise multiple Integrative Medicine practitioners in multiple modalities.
    • Develop and coordinate community partnerships with Wellness Program Manager and staff.
    • Collaborate with the East Oakland Health Center leadership team to implement new projects and pursue growth opportunities for Wellness Center services.
    • Provide primary medical care in coordination with Wellness Center, including: screening, health care maintenance and disease prevention and management of acute and chronic conditions.


    • Commitment to the provision of primary care services for the underserved with demonstrated ability to work with a variety of people from low-income populations, with diverse educational, lifestyle, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
    • Ability to take initiative, work independently and make sound judgments within established guidelines; understand and apply oral and written instructions; establish and maintain effective working relations with staff, clinical providers, managers and external agencies or organizations.
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills and ability to effectively work with people from diverse backgrounds.
    • Strong organizational, administrative, multi-tasking, prioritization and problem-solving skills.
    • Work effectively under pressure in a positive, friendly manner and be flexible and adaptive to change.
    • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement in coordination with other departments of LifeLong Medical Care and partner organizations.


    Job Requirements            


    • Training and experience in geriatrics, internal medicine, and/or family practice with board eligibility or certification required.
    • Interest in working with a diverse patient population in a community-based organization and sensitivity to their needs and health problems; commitment to a community health philosophy of prevention and primary care.


    Job Preferences


    • Experience in an integrative medicine modality (e.g. acupuncture, myofascial release, etc.).
    • Experience with leading shared medical visits.
    • Background in community health.
    • Electronic Health Record competency.
