    LifeLong Medical Care has a rewarding opportunity for a Physician or Nurse Practitioner to fill a unique leadership role within LifeLong East Oakland Health Center.


    The East Oakland Health Center is seeking a Wellness Center Lead Clinician to oversee clinical care and operations in the Wellness Center. The Wellness Center specializes in services that complement and expand upon traditional allopathic medical approaches to better address social determinants of health and health inequities affecting the East Oakland community. The Wellness Center Lead Clinician works closely with the leadership staff of East Oakland Health Center to oversee offerings in a wide array of Integrative Medicine modalities, shared medical visits and group classes for patients receiving primary care at East Oakland Health Center.

    LifeLong Medical Care is a Federally Qualified Health Center in Northern California with over 42 years of dedicated service to the community. LifeLong provides comprehensive, compassionate care to over 60,000 patients in socio-economically underserved regions of the East Bay Area. We provide medical, dental, behavioral health and school-based services at 20 sites across Oakland, Berkeley and West Contra Costa County.

    • Grant management – working closely with the LifeLong Grants and Planning Department in project implementation and grant oversite. Current grant-funded projects include: LifeLong’s Yoga practice under the Yoga Dana Grant, LifeLong’s Integrative Medicine Grant, Lifelong’s Food Insecurities grant.
    • Hiring and supervising multiple Integrative Medicine providers in modalities including Homeopathy, yoga, and acupuncture.
    • Developing and coordinating community partnerships – current and previous partners include the Alameda County Food Bank, Sun Basket, Leah’s Pantry, and Project Open Hand.
    • Collaborating with the East Oakland Health Center leadership team implement new projects and explore growth opportunities for Wellness Center services.
    • Providing medical care including: screening, health maintenance and disease prevention, management of acute and chronic conditions, provision of vaccinations and making appropriate referrals and follow-up for diagnostic and specialty services.


    • Commitment to the provision of primary care services for the underserved with demonstrated ability and sensitivity in working with a variety of people from low-income populations, with diverse educational, lifestyle, ethnic and cultural origins.
    • Ability to take initiative, work independently and make sound judgments within established guidelines; understand and apply oral and written instructions; establish and maintain effective working relations with staff, clinical providers, managers and external agencies or organizations.
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills and ability to effectively work with people from diverse backgrounds and be culturally sensitive.

    Job Requirements            

    • Candidates must be Board Certified or Eligible in Internal or Family medicine, possessing current CA medical/professional licensure.
    • Training and experience in geriatrics, internal medicine, and/or family practice with board eligibility or certification required.
    • Interest in working with a diverse patient population in a community based organization and sensitivity to their needs and health problems; commitment to a community health philosophy of prevention and primary care.
    • Experience with electronic health records.

    Job Preferences 

    • Community Health Center experience.
    • Experience as part of a team-based care model.
    • NextGen experience.
    • Experience with leading medical group visits and/or expertise in non-allopathic treatment modalities.
