    This is a full-time benefited opportunity split between our Dental clinics in Pinole and San Pablo. The ideal candidate is professional, organized and possesses excellent patient care skills with one year of experience. Experience working with children and bilingual English/Spanish a plus! The RDA will assist the dentist in all phases of dentistry, including taking diagnostic intra-oral x-rays, performing coronal polishing and prophylaxis.

    Performs basic supportive dental procedures as follows under the general supervision of licensed dentist(s):

    • Assists dentist(s) chair side in all phases of dentistry.
    • Manages patient behavior during treatment.
    • Operates dental radiographic equipment for the purpose of oral radiology; taking diagnostic quality x-rays, developing and mounting correctly as requested by the dentist(s) as often as needed.
    • Reviews oral hygiene instructions with patients following dental procedures. Provides information and answers questions about proposed treatment.
    • Performs tasks with adherence to all OSHA and regulatory sterilization, infection control, and protective barrier guidelines.
    • Provides case management to school based clients to insure proper follow-up to services performed at school sites. 
    • Performs prophylaxis and coronal polishing.
    • Applies fluoride varnish and or fluoride gel on patients.
    • Places sealants on permanent dentations.
    • Documents treatment and patient information in dental software program.
    • Perform duties with mobile dental equipment.
    • Performs other duties when assigned by the clinic director and dental director.




    • Trains and supports dental assistants, contributes to annual evaluation.
    • Schedules and manages meal periods and breaks for optimal clinic flow. Oversees adherence to openings and closing protocols as well as all equipment, procedure and operational protocols.
    • Maintains stocking of instruments and hand pieces at work stations throughout the day.
    • Responsible for the oversight of equipment sterilization processes (debrided, placed in the ultrasonic, bagged and sterilized).
    • Submits supply orders to clinic manager as needed to maintain appropriate stocking levels for operatory and lab.
    • Inventories imaging sensors, ensures that proper radiographic protocols are followed.
    • Monitors and maintains inventory of the minor equipment and set ups.
    • Responsible for documenting, calling repair person, scheduling and following up on all dental equipment repairs.
    • Responsible for the hand piece maintenance and recording the information in a log.
    • Responsible for monthly check and maintenance of Emergency equipment/Medicines (e.g. oxygen tank, eye wash station, fire extinguisher, etc.).
    • Provides Dental Assistant infection control training, maintains current MSDS’s and monitors compliance to OSHA and Infection Control policies per LMC infection control protocol. Notifies appropriate personnel of injuries.
    • Works closely with Clinic Supervisor, Associate Dental Director and Lead Clerk to support efficient clinic operations.
    • Works closely with all clinic providers (Dentists, Students, Hygienist, RDA’s) to optimize patient flow and timely visits. Monitors adherence of dental assistant chair/ room assignments - makes changes as necessary with permission of Clinic Supervisor, Associate Dental Director or lead Dentist.
    • Responsible for completion of patient’s school forms.
    • Attends meetings as required.


    • Ability to assist dentists in all phases of dentistry, and capable of taking diagnostic Intra-oral x-rays.
    • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. 
    • Knowledge of proper use of all dental material and dental equipment.
    • Strong organizational skills and self-motivation.
    • Ability to work unsupervised and work with people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds and age groups.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Computer literacy including use of Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • Maintains current CPR/First Aid Certification.
    • Ability to multi-task, troubleshoot and problem-solve effectively.


    Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Registered Dental Assistant and Radiology License
    • Valid Coronal Polish Certificate & Sealant license
    • One year of relevant dental clinic experience preferred
