LifeLong Medical Care is looking for a part-time Activity Leader in Berkeley. The Activity Leader will assist in the day-to-day programming and implementation of a high quality comprehensive elementary school-aged (K – 5) after-school program that emphasizes increased academic performance in school through tutoring, academic and cultural enrichment, and recreational activities. Rosa Parks is a new kind of “full-service” public elementary school.  For the five years preceding it’s doors re-opening, scores of parents, teachers, community activists, health and social service agencies, city officials, and foundations worked together to develop a vision of services and activities collocated at the school site that will offer support and enrichment for children and families. 


  • Provides high quality and fun afterschool programs to Rosa Parks Students.
  • Serves as a substitute for Activity Leaders when needed.
  • Plans and implements afterschool projects and activities as needed.
  • Conducts academic and recreational programs as needed.
  • Assist Director and Assistant Director with program development.
  • Assists with Staff Development during trainings, weekly meetings and by modeling best practices for other staff members.
  • Provides additional resources to staff members; and
  • Plans and teaches enrichment classes for 6 – 8 week period.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director.

  • Ability to effectively support, motivate and supervise staff, encourage and nurture development and growth, to build a strong and productive team.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, multi-tasking, prioritization and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a positive friendly manner and to be flexible and adaptive to change.
  • Ability to effectively present information to others, including other employees, community partners and vendors.
  • Ability to work with individuals and organizations at the local level to build support.
  • Ability to seek direction/approval on essential matters, yet work independently with little onsite supervision, using professional judgment and diplomacy.
  • Work in a team-oriented environment with a number of professionals with different work styles and support needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.
  • Conduct oneself in internal and external settings in a way that reflects positively on LifeLong Medical Care as an organization of professional, confident and sensitive staff.
  • Ability to see how one’s work intersects with that of other departments of LifeLong Medical Care and that of other partner organizations.
  • Make appropriate use of knowledge/ expertise/ connections of other staff.
  • Be creative and mature with a “can do”, proactive attitude and an ability to continuously “scan” the environment, identifying and taking advantage of opportunities for improvement.


Job Requirements        

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of experience with essential duties above.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office Word, Excel, Outlook.


Job Preferences              

  • College degree in related field preferred.
