LifeLong Medical Care is looking for a talented Payroll Assistant to join our team in Berkeley. The Payroll Assistant will work closely with the Payroll Supervisor and will undertake a variety of tasks such as entering payroll information, calculating wages and managing contracts.

Essential Functions

  • Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating and entering data.
  • Updates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers.
  • Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability and non-taxable wages.
  • Works closely with the compliance team to manage contracts.
  • Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Calculating pay according to hours worked incorporating leaves and overtime.


  • Experience with Financial Software
  • Proven experience as a Payroll Assistant
  • Must be familiar with ADP
  • Proficiency with MS Office/Excel
  • Familiarity with general accounting principles
  • Display strong customer service orientation.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, multi-tasking, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Work effectively under pressure in a positive professional manner and to be flexible and adaptive to change.
  • Effectively present information to others, including other employees, community partners, and vendors.
  • Work with individuals and organizations at the local level to build support.
  • Ability to seek direction/approval on essential matters, yet work independently with little onsite supervision, using professional judgment and diplomacy.
  • Work in a team-oriented environment with a number of professionals with different work styles and support needs.
  • Conduct oneself in internal and external settings in a way that reflects positively on LifeLong Medical Care as an organization of professional, confident, and sensitive staff.

Job Requirements          

  • Two to four years of experience as a Payroll Administrator.
  • Proficient in MS Office and ADP Workforce Now
  • Strong customer service approach to problem solving and conflict resolution.


Job Preferences

  • Experience with diverse employee populations and multi-location organizations a plus.
