Supporting Community Healthcare is a rewarding role, come join a wonderful organization! LifeLong Medical Care is looking for a Center Concierge to work in our TRUST Health Center in Oakland. This is a full time, hourly, benefit eligible position. Trust Health Center’s diverse and unique care team supports health by blending medical, mental and social care under one roof. We help people experiencing homelessness in the Bay Area through an intentionally created community where people feel welcomed and accepted. The Center Concierge will work with a multi-disciplinary provider team in the delivery of general primary care medical services in a community health setting. Under the general supervision of the Center Manager, the concierge is responsible for the efficient running of the waiting room and supporting a welcoming and accessible clinic, including maintenance of a safe and peaceful environment, patient intake and flow, cleanliness of waiting room, oversight of clinic donations and clinic hospitality services.


  • Maintains a calm and peaceful environment in the waiting room area that is inviting to all.
  • Greets patients on arrival, provides direction and checks patients in for appointments as needed.
  • Trouble-shoot patient concerns, ensure that patient needs are met.
  • Provides de-escalation, and mobilizes team to medical or mental health emergencies.
  • Interface with law enforcement as needed during and after an escalation event involving patients.
  • Maintains clean and pleasing appearance of waiting area, including clothing donations and snack service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Center Manager.


  • Ability to work effectively and calmly under pressure in a positive, friendly manner.
  • Ability to identify escalating situations and intervene appropriately, as well as recognize signs of intoxication in patients.
  • Interest and ability to work with patients who have a history of mental illness, substance use and homelessness.
  • Work in a team-oriented environment with a number of professionals with different work styles and support needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and ability to effectively work with people from diverse backgrounds and be culturally sensitive.


Job Requirements          

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic keyboarding and computer skills.
  • Administrative experience in health or social service setting.
  • One year previous experience working in a mental health or special needs patient environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability and sensitivity to provide services to persons who are disabled, homeless, substance users, and/or psychologically impaired.

Job Preferences

  • Previous experience in working in a community health center preferred.
  • 2 years’ experience with essential duties above.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Health or Human Services field.
