Dental Center Manager - LifeLong Dental Care - Berkeley 

 

Seeking a Dental Center Manager to manage the dental support staff and oversee the day-to-day operations of the front and back office. Will address and resolve issues to maintain smooth flow and optimal service delivery. Responsible for organizing, planning and overseeing daily functions, patient appointments, care plans and special events. Responsible for Maintaining operating supplies and equipment, working with vendors and monitoring safety and compliance. Will manage budget and reporting requirements. May provide direct patient dental care as needed.

Responsibilities

 

Essential Functions     

  • Recruits, hires, orients, develops, supervises, evaluates and terminates front and back office staff and contractors.
  • Coordinates and oversees staff work and break/lunch schedules. Approves and submits timesheets.      
  • Develops, coordinates and implements dental center daily operations and supervises all administrative departments.
  • Monitors and maintains delivery of high quality services; continually evaluates the participants' changing needs and makes necessary program adjustments with the approval of the dental director.
  • Monitors compliance (completion of Patients Tx plans)
  • Provides support to participants and family caregivers, including family education and training.
  • Maintains operating supplies (clinical) and dental equipment service needs.
  • May assist in providing direct patient dental care when needed
  • Ensures optimum scheduling and operating efficiency of the dental clinic to maximize access to care for all patients in the community

 Administration, Compliance & Budget

  • Assist Dental Director in formulating the annual Dental budget within the framework of LifeLong’s financial systems. Develops program activities within budget parameters, managing income and expenses to ensure both program quality and the financial health of the Dental clinical.
  • Ensures compliance with Lifelong dental policies and all relevant regulations, including Title 22, Medi-Cal, the local health department, etc.
  • Maintains records for and completes all necessary reporting to county & state agencies, Medi-Cal, the Veteran’s Administration, other public or private funding sources, and LifeLong administration.
  • Monitors changes in MediCal and other state requirements and recommends changes to LifeLong policies to comply. Develops and updates Dental Policy & Procedures manual, Informs staff, participants and caregivers about Dental policies.
  • Participates in long-term program planning; recommends timelines and resources needed to achieve strategic goals. 

Community Relations and Coordination, Outreach and Marketing

 

  • Functions as a liaison to other Lifelong medical clinics community organizations. Actively engages program volunteers, committee members, board members, partnering organizations, and funders to build community support.
  • Assists with marketing and outreach efforts, including community presentations and educational events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to the provision of primary care services for the underserved with demonstrated ability and sensitivity in working with a variety of people from low-income populations, with diverse educational, lifestyle, ethnic and cultural origins.
  • Ability to lead the day to day operations of the dental clinic and manage the front and back office staff
  • Ability to effectively supervise staff and to contribute to staff development and build a cohesive team.
  • Strong organizational, administrative and problem-solving skills, and ability to be flexible and adaptive to change.
  • Ability to effectively present information to others, including other employees, community partners and vendors.
  • Ability to work with individuals and organizations at the local level to build support.
  • Ability to seek direction/approval from on essential matters, yet work independently with little onsite supervision, using professional judgment and diplomacy.
  • Work in a team-oriented environment with a number of professionals with different work styles and support needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills and ability to effectively work with people from diverse backgrounds and be culturally sensitive.

 Job Requirements       

  • Associates Degree.
  • Registered Dental Assistant or Registered Dental Hygienist with Strong Managerial Skills.
  • Two years’ experience managing dental front and back office operations, including staff supervision.
  • Basic knowledge of dental insurances verification and billing and compliance with operating regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of Denti-cal policies as to related to FQHC
  • Experience managing budgets, collecting data and producing reports on clinic finances, patients Tx plans
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite. Electronic Dental records.

Job Preferences          

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Dental Hygienist with management skills
  • Non-profit or community health experience.
